Errant electrons were out of orbit, atoms swam about in discordant whorls and molecules were a chaotic jumble, scattered ingredients of the inky, primordial soup that was earth. Desolation reigned and confusion ruled. There was no delineation to the puddle, no borders to the muddle. The cosmos was a canyon of nothingness and over it stygian darkness swarmed, swirled, flowed in ceaseless, restless motion. It was a planet that only Hades would have delighted in, one that would have made Anubis smile. Here, nothing could bloom nor fruit her. Thinking growth or beauty was insanity! It was a dead world!
The original plan had gone awry. Things were not supposed to have deteriorated this way. A beautiful well laid plan had exploded into disruption. Hopelessness had replaced hope. There was not a smidgen of potential left. The centre was gone. Things had fallen apart. The panorama that gripped the senses was such that should make one turn his back to it all, even Divinity.
The Alpha signed. There were only two choices left, to stay or walk away. Walking away would be better; maybe He should find somewhere else and start all over again. There was no point anymore. The heavenly host watched on expecting The Alpha to take the most logical step. Logic however does not make Divinity. He would never give up on the project. The Alpha rolled up His sleeves, folded His glorious robe and waded into the mess. He stayed endlessly, thinking, brooding, engaging the gears of His thoughts over matter until….
….the brain wave came…a possibility! He saw the spark though it was almost nothing within the expanse of the dark. It was a straw in the drowning ocean of night but He clung to it, gripped it, and stayed with it. It was just a glimmer but He did not let go!
The image formed in His mind, travelled down to His speech center and congealed on His tongue. “Light be!” He uttered! It emerged right out of the darkness; an ember of hope blossomed and grew into unimaginable proportions. It was a flood of photons, colours brilliant and bright that banished the darkness to places farther than the edges of peripheral vision. It was warm and inviting, saturating everything. The Alpha saw that it was beautiful and a smile lit up His face at the accomplishment.
The heavenly host were quiet, awestruck! The Alpha had not talked the problem nor gotten overwhelmed with it. Instead He had talked the solution. He did not speak of what existed but spoke what He wanted to see. He did not dwell on the gloomy challenges of the present but looked into the brightness of the future. He had seen something different from what was happening around Him, had focused on light instead of darkness. Within the negativity, He saw possibilities.
The Alpha stepped back from it all, an idea filling his mind. His ultimate would be to create another to be like Him, someone who would function with His creative potential. People who will never give up…who will also call light out of darkness….
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:
